Position: Research Scientist on Network Optimization (Operations Research)

The Network and Traffic Optimization research team of the Mathematical
and Algorithmic Sciences Lab, Huawei France Research Center, located
in the Paris area, is looking for candidates for a permanent research
position on Operations Research to commence by the end of the year.
The research will focus on developing algorithms and novel network
analysis and decision schemes to drive research and innovation in the
context of network optimization.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for theory exploration, advanced algorithm design,
analysis, and performance evaluation to meet challenging business

Analyze business requirements and follow technology evolutions

Collaborate with other units to ensure the successful exploitation of
research outputs.

Generation of intellectual property through the patenting of ideas.
Propose and publish research in major research publications worldwide.

Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with
university-based researchers, other leading research bodies, business
units and government agencies.

Required Degree: PhD English: Operational

Specific Requirements:

Candidates must have a strong background in Operations Research in the
context of network optimization, routing and resource allocation. In
addition, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

PhD Degree in Applied Mathematics, Telecommunication or Computer Science

Solid background on discrete optimization theory, combinatorial
optimization and robust methods

Good knowledge on linear programming (e.g., b&b, pricing, decomposition methods)

Good knowledge of graph theory

Experience in the design of exact and approximation algorithms to
solve network problems.

Knowledge on optimization under uncertainty (e.g., robust, stochastic

Solid experience with optimization tools (CPLEX, Gurobi, Coin-OR,
Xpress, Matlab)

Proficiency with low-level development languages (C/C++).

Solid theoretical experience and a good publication record in
operations research.

Candidates must have the ability to conduct independent research while
also contributing to team-oriented projects that often span across
multiple international Huawei research sites.
